Overland Network Director All Germany, Germany

The Director Network Road Freight Europe partners with all relevant stakeholders, mainly in Europe, to ensure highest quality and reliability of the groupage / LTL Road Freight Network across all countries within the region Europe. He/she acts is an active contributor and acts as sparring-partner for Business partners in Europe within the product Road Freight, but also for other products such as Air Freight and Ocean Freight in order to ensure providing Road Freight necessary capabilities as needed internal services. This “hand-on” position requires strong people management as well as problem solving skills. A deep knowledge and understanding of the European Road Freight business and market is essential.


  • Develops and owns the European Road Freight Network in groupage and LTL as key enabler to execute and grow groupage and LTL business in Europe
  • Develops business plans where needed
  • Ensures permanent steering and monitoring of the Road Freight Network to ensure best possible performances with own Gateways, branches as well as partners acting in behalf of the client
  • Leads/executes actively regular Network management review meetings with his/her peers in the European Areas/Countries, if needed directly with Branches
  • Active reviews of financial and operational key-figures on regular basis together with other regional Road Freight functions and peers in Areas / Countries
  • Prepares Management summaries in structured ways in order to understand impacts due to Business changes /updates on Operations and financial adjustments/updates within the Road Freight Network
  • Takes leadership for implementation of new groupage / LTL businesses within the European Road Freight Network
  • Acts as main interface towards all Road Freight Gateways in Europe
  • Acts as owner towards third party partners in the groupage/LTL Network
  • Ensures transparency around all elements of the European groupage / LTL Network
  • Liaise, coordinates and works closely with Regional peers and European Areas/Countries
  • Supports the Managing Director Road Freight on ad-hoc requests/projects and for specifically assigned tasks
  • Close alignment on all activities with the Managing Director Road Freight


  • Excellent MS office skills with Focus on Excel and Powerpoint
  • Strong IT skills are required
  • Strong people management skills / communication skills / interpersonal skills
  • Capable of working to strict deadlines and handling high volume of data
  • Good level of commercial knowledge
  • Fluent Business English mandatory, additional languages are welcome
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in the industry and 3 years’ experience in management
  • Strong analytical and operational background
  • Well experienced in European Road Freight groupage / LTL business with vast knowledge and in Road Freight Network Management
  • Proven track of success in Road Freight Network Management
  • Well experienced in Project Management and good level of knowledge in Change Management
  • High flexibility and willingness to travel frequently

Salary: €100,000 – €110,000 + bonus + car
