Export Key Account Manager Leeds/Bradford, UK

A forward thinking and growing freight forwarder in the Bradford area are looking to add an Export Key Account Manager to their highly skilled team.

Job Purpose

The primary function of the role is the management and development of the business relationship between the company and all existing and new customers.

Key Accountabilities & responsibilities

  • You will manage and actively seek to build a good relationship with any new customer assigned to you.
  • You will manage the processing of Export consignments in line with an agreed standard operating procedure ensuring the achievement of internal Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
  • You will manage all Export Clearances / Entries
  • Liaising with Overseas Offices
  • Arranging Deliveries and collections
  • You will be responsible for managing 3rd party providers
  • You will be responsible for communicating between shipping lines and transport companies to obtain required information for shipments
  • You will monitor the profitability of your allocated accounts, seeking opportunities to increase the profitability and the GP/TEU performance of your allocated customers. You will additionally be aware of the planned and actual performance figures of your customers and use that information to seek improvements to company profitability
  • Manage the collation of all export documentation
  • Ensure that all Bills of Lading are raised in accordance with customer requirements
  • Receiving Bookings from the customers as well as placing all bookings with the preferred carriers
  • Letter of credit requirements are adhered to
  • You will be required to make occasional visits (as required) to customers as part of a review process or in response to a customer request
  • You will actively participate in the internal communication and briefing process, and/or the weekly meetings
  • You should have a high level of understanding of your customers’ business, and be able to suggest and deliver initiatives that will benefit those customers and assist in the longer term retention of them
  • You will be required to keep yourself informed and updated on any changes within the current marketplace that may impact your customers
  • Whilst you will be directly responsible for managing your allocated customers, you will be expected to work as part of a team and provide support and cover for colleagues during absences
  • You will also undertake any other duties assigned
